Four rooms, four reading paths
This site is organised by what you are shopping for rather than by product type. Each path below starts with the measurement, because the measurement is what decides the answer.
I have a room and no idea where to start
Start with the five measurements. They take four minutes and they decide almost everything downstream.
I am buying a rug
Size is where most rugs go wrong, and it is the part almost nobody explains properly.
I am buying curtains
Drop length and fabric width decide whether a curtain hangs right. Length is rarely the standard answer.
I am replacing a throw or cushions
Fill type and declared GSM are the two numbers worth checking before anything else.
Six terms that show up everywhere on this site
The depth of the tufts, measured in mm. Read the measurement point, not just the number.
The width of the roll before cutting. Determines whether the pattern repeats visibly.
Woven on a loom with no tufts. Crisp edge, low profile, reversible.
Loops left uncut. Durable, holds edges, easy to vacuum.
The ratio of curtain fabric width to the track span. Below 1.5× looks flat.
Grams per square metre. The only comparable thickness figure on a throw.
